Graduated as an Anaesthesiologist from Mysore Medical College and Christian Medical College, Vellore. Has 36 years experience of grassroots to policy-level action in the sectors of Health, Education, Socio-Economic Empowerment, Training and Research. Apart from being a clinician, he has lived amongst the indigenous tribal groups in Mysuru District of Karnataka, founded and led non-profit organisations and pioneered public-private partnership initiatives, some of which are National Models in the sectors of Health. He has been a member of various planning and policy committees of the Government and Academic bodies of various Universities. Working with the indigenous tribal groups he has played a key role in Rehabilitation and Resettlement of forest-based tribes of HD Kote Taluk in Mysuru District of Karnataka in South India. He has been an accomplished trainer. His research papers in Health, HIV/AIDS and Non-Profit Management have been presented at various National and International Conferences. His areas of special interest include Tribal and Rural Development, Primary Health Care inclusive of Emergency Medicine, Comprehensive management of chronic illnesses, Palliative Care and Integrative Health.
